Use precision rise-and-run inputs to create diagonal walls, then convert straight walls into controlled curves.

Rise and run allows exact diagonal geometry without freehand drawing. Curve inputs then add a measured offset to a selected straight wall.

Before you begin

  • Open the boundary by removing the wall that will be replaced.
  • Select an existing vertex as the starting point.
  • Keep angle lock and grid settings appropriate for the field measurements.

Workflow

1. Create a diagonal with rise and run

Enter 10 feet right and, before confirming, enter 10 feet down. Confirm the combined inputs to place a diagonal wall using the specified rise and run.

2. Continue the boundary

Draw 10 feet up to return to the prior elevation. Follow the pop point alignment, continue another 10 feet up when needed, and place the next vertex.

3. Close and define the area

Use Auto-close to reconnect the boundary, then assign the correct area definition.

4. Convert a wall to a curve

Select the wall, open the curve input, and increase the curve with the arrow controls or type an exact offset. Choose the side of the wall where the curve should bow to confirm it.

5. Return a curve to straight

Select the curved wall and clear or reduce the curve input until the wall returns to a straight segment.

Field notes

  • Rise and run values describe two components of one diagonal segment.
  • Confirm the direction of both components before placing the diagonal.
  • A curve offset needs the correct side selection; verify that the arc bows inward or outward as intended.

Final review

Before leaving the assignment, confirm that the geometry matches the field measurements, every closed area has the correct definition, labels and features are readable, and the calculations reflect the intended report treatment. Use manual sync and verify the updated sketch in the web application.
