Mobile Sketch: Edit Shapes, Definitions, Labels, and Features

Extend an existing shape, manage area definitions, rotate geometry, and place scalable labels and feature symbols.

Use this guide when an existing sketch needs to be expanded or annotated. It covers reopening a boundary, extending the geometry, redefining the area, and adding report-friendly labels and features.

Before you begin

• Select the shape and identify the wall that must be removed or extended.
• Confirm the intended area definition before reopening the boundary.
• Have the correct feature and room label terminology ready.

Workflow

1. Open the boundary

Delete the wall that needs to change. The area definition is removed while the shape is open because the boundary no longer encloses an area.

2. Extend and close the shape

Start from an existing vertex, draw the required extension with precision inputs, use the available pop point for alignment, and select Auto-close.

3. Restore the area definition

When the definition prompt appears, assign the correct type, such as Garage. Use the definition controls to drag its label, minimize or maximize it, or remove it.

4. Rotate the shape if needed

Use the rotation control at the top of the selected shape to adjust the orientation of the complete geometry.

5. Add a feature and label

Open Features and Labels, place an item such as a corner fireplace, and adjust its scale. Add a room label such as The Den, then adjust its size and rotation for readability.

Field notes

• Reopening a shape temporarily removes its definition; redefine it after the boundary closes.
• Use labels that match the terminology used elsewhere in the appraisal report.
• Keep symbols and labels readable without allowing them to obscure dimensions or walls.

Final review

Before leaving the assignment, confirm that the geometry matches the field measurements, every closed area has the correct definition, labels and features are readable, and the calculations reflect the intended report treatment. Use manual sync and verify the updated sketch in the web application.
