Web Sketch: How to use Pop Points

Before you begin
Open the correct report and confirm you are sketching the intended subject, dwelling, unit, or related structure. If the sketch will support GLA, exhibits, or report commentary, keep your field notes, measurements, photos, and assignment requirements available while you work.

When to use this
Use pop points when an existing wall or corner needs another editable point instead of redrawing the shape.

Start in the correct sketch context
This section explains how to use pop points in your drawing. The red dot marks a previous point in the current shape.
Check each shape before moving on
Pop points become easier to see as more lines are added to the shape.
In the example, draw a few segments so the pop points are easier to see. For example, you can go here, and you want to click down here, and you want to make a few more shapes like this. As you can see here, it is showing all these various different points that you can go to from this exact point here.
In order to go to a pop point while you are in this mouse mode or even a keyboard, if you want to just jump to, For example, that red dot there on the left there, select simply select Shift, and then to the left, and you see it pops to it. This pop point that you want to go to next is a little bit hidden, but you can see if you want to press Shift and Down, you are now going to go to that past historical point within that shape.
Since there is no other lines that are connected from here all the way down to the next shape, The basic workflow is just pressing Shift + Down, and you can close that shape.
Or For example, you can keep on drawing, and you want to go here. For example, you can continue going down, like, four down. Now you can see if you want to go to the right, there is all these pop points that are available to me there.
So to go to the next pop point in either direction, you can select Shift, and then you can go here. You can go here and here. For example, you can do two and down.
Also you can see that the workspace includes those current pop points from the past historical shape as well also in this sketch.
If you want to glide through all those, you can select Shift over, over, over, over, and there you go. If I wanted to close this shape here, you can select down, and whenever the state right now is in this blue state where it is all lit up, that's how you know that in this current state, it just requires one action to close that shape, which is you will select Enter
Practical workflow
Select the shape that needs adjustment, then add a pop point where the wall needs to change direction or accept a new corner.
Move the new point into position and use the surrounding wall segments to refine the footprint. This is useful for jogs, offsets, and small footprint changes discovered during review.
After adjusting the point, check the calculated area again. Small geometry edits can affect totals, labels, and the exhibit image.
Field review tips
Use pop points for corrections and refinements, but recheck the whole shape afterward so the edit did not distort another wall.
Appraiser review checklist
- Confirm the sketch is attached to the correct report and property structure.
- Confirm labels, areas, and totals match your field notes and intended report use.
- Confirm any generated exhibit is readable before relying on it in the report.
- Recheck the report section where the exhibit or calculated area appears.
